Liverpool are keen on joining the race to sign Serie A’s £102 million rated attacking star

According to 1 Station Radio’s 1 Football Night, via Area Napoli (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are keen to begin their pursuit of Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as the incoming Arne Slot seeks to reinforce the team following Jurgen Klopp’s departure. As a pivotal figure in Napoli’s recent successes, including their first Serie A title in three decades, Kvaratskhelia has emerged as a coveted asset in the transfer market, despite a poor 2023-24 campaign.

Amid swirling speculation about his future, the attacker’s potential departure from Napoli has sparked interest from various clubs across Europe, with Barcelona also reportedly keen on securing his services. The winger’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, prompting Liverpool to explore the possibility of adding him to their ranks. The Reds’ prior connections with Kvaratskhelia should give them an idea of the player’s talents.

For Liverpool, acquiring Kvaratskhelia would represent a significant coup and a statement of intent as they look to build on their recent successes and remain competitive in both domestic and European competitions. As manager Arne Slot shapes his squad for the future, securing the services of the talented winger could provide a valuable boost to Liverpool’s attacking prowess, offering fans renewed optimism for the seasons ahead.

Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Bacho Tsalugelashvili (provided the update on Kvaratskhelia’s future at Napoli, amid speculation around talks with the player’s agent and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“Is Kvaratskhelia’s agent talking to De Laurentiis? I believe the agent will meet the president next week. However, either the contract renewal will materialize or Kvara [Kvaratskhelia] will go to a top club. I don’t know if it is Barcelona or another team.”

“Could it be a Premier League club? I don’t know. Liverpool are also interested in Kvaratskhelia, although Barcelona’s interest is more concrete. There are management sources who confirm the Blaugrana’s desire.”

According to the journalist, Kvaratskhelia’s asking price could cost as much as £102million. It will be interesting to see if the Reds will be keen on fulfilling the Napoli star’s hefty financial requirements. Given the season the 23-year-old has just had, one could say it is a hefty asking price indeed.

Liverpool sure is impressed with the Napoli star

Kvaratskhelia’s impact at Napoli since his arrival in 2022 has been nothing short of remarkable, establishing himself as one of Serie A’s standout performers. With an impressive tally of 50 goal contributions in just 85 appearances for the Italian club, including 24 goals of his own, the Georgian international has firmly cemented his reputation as a dynamic and prolific winger.

Liverpool’s reported interest in the Georgian raises questions about the club’s forward planning amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield. While Salah has been a pivotal figure for the Reds, speculation has mounted regarding his potential departure, fueled by his contract situation and mounting interest from other clubs. Should Liverpool opt to part ways with Salah, Kvaratskhelia could emerge as a prime candidate to fill the void left by the Egyptian star.
