Liverpool star admits disappointment in failed ‘title Push’ but prefers to look at the positives

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah shared the team’s disappointment for failing in their League title push amid the Champions League qualification

Jarell Quansah revealed that Liverpool are “gutted” for failing in their Premier League title push amid the Champions League qualification. The Reds drew twice and lost twice in their last five Premier League games, suffering a drastic drop in form.

Despite enjoying a great season until mid-March, Liverpool have faced a recurring problem in both their attack and defence. The attacking department has wasted too many chances while the defence conceded early goals, causing unnecessary pressure through complacency.

The problem eventually had dire consequences as the Reds’ push for multiple trophies failed during their poor performances in April. The team struggled with ideas and their morale dropped significantly, causing frustration among the players, staff and fans.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp leaves the club after the end of the current season after rebuilding the club’s culture. As the emotional farewell draws nearer with three games remaining, players have a lot to reflect upon their season.

Quansah has enjoyed a breakthrough season, establishing himself in the senior team under fellow centre-back Virgil van Dijk. The 21-year-old became one of the latest academy players and among the last ones to earn promotion under Klopp.

Speaking on the Champions League qualification (h/t The Guardian), Quansah expressed the team’s disappointment in their failing the title chase. He said:

“It’s hard to take positives while the season is still going on. But it’s a good thing. I am looking forward to next season, but we’re just gutted we couldn’t push for the title. It has always been the same here, at the very least qualifying for the Champions League and pushing for trophies and that is always what we are striving for and trying to do.”

Quansah has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, contributing with one goal and three assists this season. The 21-year-old’s performances helped Liverpool through the injury crisis when Joel Matip suffered a season-ending injury in December.

Quansah has to continue building on his consistent performances to impress the incoming manager Arne Slot. Slot has gained an immense reputation for developing raw talent similar to what Klopp has done with the Reds.
