Liverpool are ready to battle Atletico Madrid and West Ham United to sign Corinthians forward Wesley Gassova during the summer

Liverpool wants Corinthians forward Wesley Gassova during the summer amid interest for the player from Atletico Madrid and West Ham. Gassova has established himself as a senior team player for his Brazilian club during this season despite his young age.

The 19-year-old made his professional debut in 2022 at the young age of 17 and continued to make promising development. Standing at 1.80 metres, Wesley is physically well-built and has an incredible pace and agility to play as a winger.

The young Brazilian prefers to play on the left wing where he has featured regularly this season for Corinthians. He is capable of playing as a second striker and as a right winger while his right foot is dominant.

Wesley has the dribbling ability and pace to be a handful against any opponents in a one-on-one duel. The 19-year-old earned comparison with Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku for his style of play in the wings.

However, Wesley has to develop his end product to fulfil his immense potential, lacking passing and goalscoring threat. The 19-year-old has made 23 appearances for Corinthians in all competitions, contributing with four goals and two assists this season.

The Liverpool Echo reported that Liverpool are challenging Atletico and West Ham to sign Wesley during the summer. Corinthians value Wesley for £26 million which is a steep price for a player who would need time to adapt to European football.

Liverpool have a stacked attacking department but things could change as current manager Jurgen Klopp leaves the club. The Reds have already acquired Arne Slot as the successor for the legendary German manager, taking control during the summer.

Currently, the Reds have Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo as the options for the left-wing position alongside Darwin Nunez. Liverpool have other positions that would take priority during the summer which makes any potential deal for Wesley, very unlikely.
