Jurgen Klopp talks about the away fans after Villa draw
Jurgen Klopp reflected on the reception from the travelling fans at the end of Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Aston Villa, expressing his gratitude for their relentless support. Despite knowing that it was his last away game, Klopp admitted that it didn’t quite feel like it yet, but he appreciated the special moment nonetheless.
Here is what he told the club’s official website:
“I enjoyed it always. I enjoyed it today. I still don’t feel that it’s the last time or whatever. I know it’s the last time, it just doesn’t feel it. I am obviously more professional than I thought because I was completely in the game. [I] didn’t think a second about [the fact] it’s my last away game or whatever. I had no movie going, nothing. I didn’t think about my first game, somebody told me now, I know it’s Tottenham, but someone asked me about that.”
“No, I was completely in the game, but I appreciate so much what these boys and girls are doing. The away fans were always absolutely insane. What they did, where they were, we asked them to travel a lot over the years. It was a wonderful relationship, is a wonderful relationship! I always try to show my appreciation and today the boys showed that as well with the way they played.”
Klopp‘s focus remained solely on the game itself, demonstrating his commitment and professionalism despite the emotional significance of the occasion. He highlighted the incredible support of the away fans over the years, acknowledging their dedication and the sacrifices they’ve made to follow the team.
I’m so glad!
The manager’s appreciation for the unwavering support of the Liverpool faithful underscored the deep bond between the club and its supporters. The symbiotic relationship between the team and the fans has been a defining feature of Klopp’s tenure, fostering an atmosphere of unity and camaraderie that transcends the confines of the pitch.
However, amidst the emotional farewells and nostalgic reminiscences, the harsh reality of the game’s outcome could not be ignored. Despite Liverpool’s valiant efforts, they were unable to secure victory, conceding a late equaliser to Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.
In the grand scheme of things, the result may seem inconsequential, a mere footnote in Klopp’s illustrious tenure at the club. With his departure imminent, the focus has shifted from individual matches to the broader narrative of Klopp’s legacy and the uncertain future that lies ahead for Liverpool.
With only one game remaining, against Wolves at home, Klopp’s final match at Anfield will be an emotional occasion for players and fans alike. Remember his last game at Dortmund. While we won’t have tifos of the same kind, it will be much more emotional than that day in NRW.
