Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are showing interest in acquiring Brazilian club CR Vasco da Gama, initiating their multi-club model

Fenway Sports Group wants to purchase Vasco da Gama, adding the club with Liverpool as part of their multi-club model. FSG reappointed former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards as the CEO of football to oversee all of their footballing operations.

The American private investment company 777 Partners currently operates the Brazilian club. They are attempting to take over Everton, but financial issues complicate the situation.

A lawsuit from a London-based asset management company, Leadenhall Capital Partners has accused the 777 partners of $600 million fraud. The latest lawsuit against 777 comes after the strings of different lawsuits, corporate failures and unpaid bills accusations against them.

NewsColina, a Brazil-based news platform, reported (via X) that FSG wants to acquire Vasco da Gama from 777. The report also stated that a company from the Cresifa group wants to acquire Vasco’s majority shares.

Liverpool fans welcomed Edwards’ arrival with the news of the potential multi-club model that could benefit them in the future. Edwards has proven his immense business acumen and leadership prowess to nurture top clubs with astute decision-making and deals.

Tapping into the South American market could prove lucrative for the Reds in the long run. Numerous European clubs like FC Porto, Benfica and even Real Madrid have acquired many great talents from the Brazilian league.

Instead of buying established players in the transfer market, the Reds could make early recruitments from South America. Liverpool already functions under a restricted budget compared to their competitive rivals, usually opting to sell before they could buy.
