Fabrizio Romano confirms that West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has a release clause amid interest from Liverpool
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has a release clause that Liverpool can exploit. Romano further stated that the situation surrounding the release clause is unknown, giving leverage to West Ham to negotiate the price.
Kudus has enjoyed a fantastic season with the Hammers after signing for the club from Ajax during the last summer. Standing at 1.77 metres, Kudus has the versatility to play in multiple attacking positions, centrally and at the right wing.
He has also featured as a left winger for West Ham in many games this season, maintaining the high consistency. The 23-year-old has the pace, close control and dribbling skills to make long progressive runs and beat defenders on duels.
The Ghana international has the physique and athleticism to keep control of the ball in tight spaces and wiggle out. Kudus’ impressive performances combined with his flamboyant style of play have endeared him with the Hammers fanbase throughout this season.
The 23-year-old has made 47 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, contributing with 17 goals and seven assists. Many top Premier League and European clubs want to acquire Kudus due to his consistent top-level performances this season.
Romano told GIVEMESPORT that Liverpool would need to make a crazy proposal if they cannot activate the release clause this summer. He said:
“I think it has to be a really crazy proposal because West Ham, at the moment, are not commenting about this release clause. Sources guarantee that a release clause is included in his contract, but it is not guaranteed to start this summer. It’s still a tricky situation.”
Liverpool faced the dire consequences of the failure of their attacking department during the last month due to poor finishing. As the morale dropped and players ran out of ideas, Liverpool’s vulnerabilities in the attacking department faced stern criticism.
The Reds legend Mohamed Salah has also slightly regressed in his pace and ability to impact the overall game. Despite continuing to be a prolific goal scorer, the 31-year-old’s poor productivity in the last month exposed his overall contribution.

Kudus fits the profile perfectly to compete with Salah and eventually succeed him as an important attacking player. However, Liverpool will only make a move if the deal is financially correct and the Ghana international is a requirement.
