Liverpool owner fires shots at Manchester City’s dig after their fourth consecutive PL title
Liverpool owner John Henry‘s wife, Linda Pizzuti, gave a sarcastic response to Manchester City’s clear social media dig after their fourth consecutive Premier League crown.
While Liverpool paid tribute to their outgoing manager on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City was winning the Premier League for the fourth time in a row. With two early goals against West Ham, Phil Foden gave Pep Guardiola’s team the ultimate finish to an incredible season.
After the City players celebrated their most recent accomplishment on the pitch at the Etihad, the team’s official social media account joked about Liverpool by posting, “This means four.”
‘This means more’ has been the Reds’ slogan for the majority of Jurgen Klopp‘s tenure. Even in a 2018 club video, the outgoing manager repeated the same catchphrase. Hence, City’s post was obviously a clear dig at Liverpool.
Unsurprisingly, several Liverpool fans reposted City’s tweet, and Linda Pizzuti even shared it in her Instagram story before responding sarcastically of her own. She wrote:
“A sincere congratulations to Man City — Premier League champions! So much respect for this tremendous achievement. Thanks for thinking of us on your special day.”
After a verbal spat between City player Erling Haaland and Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, City launched its jab. Trent said that winning trophies meant more to Liverpool, as Man City is a machine that’s “built to win.”
Manchester City could potentially be celebrating even more silverware before the end of the season. Guardiola’s side take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Manchester City is deserving of praise for yet another outstanding campaign. Yes, the 115 charges still cast a shadow over the team’s accomplishments, but Guardiola’s team has excelled on the pitch.
