Liverpool star forward drops a clear hint about his future at the club amid Arne Slot’s arrival
In a pledge to the supporters about winning trophies next season, Mohamed Salah dropped a huge hint that he may stay at Liverpool this summer. Similar to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, Salah’s contract expires at the end of the following campaign.
When the transfer market opens, Saudi Pro League teams will probably seek him out, as Al-Ittihad, a Saudi club, made him an incredible offer in the past. Liverpool does not want to take the chance of losing him for nothing.
The 32-year-old Egyptian has not seemed like himself since his injury recovery, but many sources indicate that Arne Slot, the new manager, is preparing for the upcoming season with him.
Shortly after Slot’s appointment as Jurgen Klopp‘s replacement was officially announced, Salah turned to social media to say he would be staying put for a while. He wrote:
“We know that trophies are what count and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season. Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell.”
His statement coincides with rumours that Slot intends to centre his squad around Salah and three other players. As per reports, the Dutchman, along with Van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, and Alexander-Arnold, views the forward as ‘essential’ to his ambitions.
The Egyptian star forward has been a crucial part of Liverpool’s achievements since he joined Anfield in 2017. He contributed to eight of Liverpool’s silverware, including their historical Champions League title in 2019. Liverpool would certainly not want to make the mistake of sacking him this summer.
Salah is someone Slot will undoubtedly want to keep, and it looks like the Egyptian has plans to stay put as well. Rather than allowing him to reach the end of his contract, it makes sense that Liverpool would give him a new contract.
