Liverpool targets Albanian star as potential Salah replacement; seems better than Bakayoko

According to Sport Bild, a number of Bundesliga and international teams are showing interest in the Albanian star and Mainz winger Brajan Gruda, including Liverpool, who are searching for a Mohamed Salah successor.

Liverpool’s Egyptian star winger Mohamed Salah is expected to be in high demand when the transfer window opens this summer. Salah previously had a tempting offer from Saudi club Al-Ittihad and the club is expected to remain keen on their interest in the attacker.

Liverpool are preparing themselves for life after Salah, eyeing out several forwards who could be the potential replacement for the star winger.

Brajan Gruda is coming off a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga, in which he established himself as a regular in Mainz’s starting line-up scoring four goals and providing three assists. His performance in the Bundesliga have caught the eye of Liverpool.

Liverpool previously had their eyes set on PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko who contributed to his club’s Eredivisie title-winning campaign.

The reports claim that PSV could sanction his departure for roughly £40 million. The 19-year-old Gruda stands out to be a clearly better option as his value is estimated at around €20 million.

Gruda has what it takes to succeed Salah

With evident similarities between the playstyles of both Gruda and Salah, playing on the right wing, Liverpool is certainly considering him as a potential Salah replacement.

Although there is no current official announcement regarding Salah’s future, there remains a possibility that the winger signs a contract renewal with the Reds. But he certainly does not have much time in his career as he will turn 32 this year.

Being Bakayoko’s cheaper alternative, the 19-year-old really stands a great chance to land at Anfield as Liverpool would require as many funds as they can gather to go through the upcoming plethora of changes they are to face this summer.
