Michael Edwards eyes potential Salah successor as Juventus is ready to sell their star
Federico Chiesa of Juventus is a name that keeps popping up on their CEO of Football, Michael Edwards‘ shortlist of prospective winger targets to take Mohamed Salah‘s spot as his potential successor.
Mohamed Salah, who remains a top target for Saudi Pro League teams, is likely to leave Liverpool during this season. Since his contract ends in 2025, the Reds might be willing to accept a sizable offer if one comes for him, such as the £150 million deal they turned down last summer.
With nine goals and three assists this season, the Juventus revelation is clearly a quality player, and Liverpool is eager to make a bid for him.
According to the reports, the 26-year-old carries a £51 million valuation to lure him away from the Euro giants. Despite the fees being a hefty one, Liverpool are keen on their interest in the sensational forward.
Scouts from the Merseyside team were present to witness Chiesa play in last week’s Copa Italia final, which Juventus won 1-0. The representatives of Liverpool appear to have been impressed by what they witnessed since Chiesa is now at the top of their shortlist.
Chiesa has made a huge name for himself in the football community since he helped Italy win in the Euros in 2020. But he has dealt with numerous injuries since then, still making his way to his best potential.
With Arne Slot joining Liverpool as the new head coach, he would surely have his eyes on prioritizing Salah’s stay at Anfield. But if it did not go according to the plan the Reds must secure a backup who could replace the Egyptian star.
