Liverpool legend snubs Arsenal legend for Jurgen Klopp while ranking Premier League standings
Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has placed Jurgen Klopp above Arsenal legend, Arsene Wenger in his rankings for Premier League managers. Wenger was at the helm of the Gunners for 22 years before he stepped down back in 2018.
The French manager looked over 1234 games for the senior squad and won 715 of those. Wenger put in a ton of trophies in Arsenal’s cabinet winning the FA Cup seven times, the English Super Cup seven times and the Premier League title three times.
He gave the Gunners their last Premier League title over 20 years ago during the 2003/04 season. Wenger is definitely counted among the greatest managers of all time. But Carragher snubbed him, let’s have a look at what we had to say. (h/t Football.London)
“I’d go, Pep, Ferguson, Jose [Mourinho] because he came back and won the league with Chelsea, then Klopp next.”
“I’d put Pep Guardiola top of Premier League [history]. Sir Alex Ferguson, what he did at Aberdeen, maybe puts him above Pep,”
Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher named all these legendary managers but left out Arsene Wenger which is a little disrespectful to the Arsenal legend. In comparison to Klopp, the French manager won 17 trophies compared to Klopp’s eight.
However, the German had less time than Wenger who spent a staggering 22 years at the helm of Arsenal. Moreover, the French manager never managed to win the UCL trophy during his two-decade reign.
All the greats including Klopp, Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, and Sir Alex Ferguson have led their teams to European glory. Mourinho even did it with FC Porto back in 2004. Wenger must regret missing out on the coveted trophy.
