Peter Krawietz honest admission about Liverpool while leaving; the assistant manager is already in demand

This summer, Liverpool is not only seeing their beloved boss Jurgen Klopp leave, but several members of the backroom staff are also leaving along with him, including the assistant manager, Peter Krawietz.

The German assistant manager joined the Reds with Jurgen Klopp in 2015. Since then, they have led Liverpool to great heights, winning several silverware including the Champions League title in 2019.

Liverpool is going through a plethora of changes this summer since their manager Jurgen Klopp announced his departure in January. A re-structuring of the squad is going to happen with Arne Slot joining as the new head coach of the Reds.

Liverpool certainly means a lot to Krawietz as this club gave him the true identity and the success he has had in the past couple of years. He will continue to support Liverpool forever as he told the club media during his farewell:

“How can I say it? Liverpool became kind of home, a football home. I felt and I learned about this club – about English football in general but especially about this club, about the history.”

“So, I leave this club as an assistant manager but for sure I will be a big Liverpool supporter and not with the feeling: ‘In past times we did this or that differently or better.’ Not at all.”

“I only wish the best for this club, while crossing my fingers and biting my fingernails! It’s going to be exciting. There is only one club for me in England and this is Liverpool Football Club. This is what it means.”

The assistant boss is already in demand

Krawietz talent and a successful tenure at Liverpool certainly did not go unnoticed in the football community as the 52-year-old is already receiving interests from some clubs.

According to football writer Ben Pescod (h/t Football Fancast), Sunderland views Peter Krawietz as the right candidate to fill their vacant manager position.

Liverpool will certainly miss them

Although the fact that the 52-year-old has only been an assistant manager ever could be risky for Sunderland, he could still turn out to be a genuine prodigy.

It’s possible that Krawietz is desperate to succeed as a manager. He has been working under one of the greatest managers of his generation, Jurgen Klopp, for a considerable amount of time, which is only encouraging.
