Real Madrid could approach Liverpool for midfield star following Toni Kroos’ retirement announcement
As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister. The Spanish giants will be losing Toni Kroos this summer and plugging that hole will take a player of the highest quality.
Kroos plans on hanging up his boots after the EUROs 2024 so Real Madrid needs to move fast if they wish to sign a capable replacement. Apart from Alexis Mac Allister, the team has scouted, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella.
The Argentine midfielder was perhaps the Reds’ most important player this season. The team would be losing a crucial piece if they let go of Mac Allister this summer. While Liverpool will be trying their best to retain the 25-year-old, Real Madrid’s pockets run deep and that could be enough to cause further heartbreak.
However, there is also the question of whether Mac Allister would be willing to leave or not. The 25-year-old made 46 appearances this season recording a total of seven goals and seven assists. Decent numbers for his debut season at Anfield.
The Argentine has settled in at Liverpool with next to no friction. There’s no guarantee he’ll be able to do the same if he moves to Real Madrid. Moreover, Mac Allister might not be able to maintain his current level if he takes a move to the La Liga giants.
So Real Madrid might try and approach the Argentine this summer, but they will surely not be having an easy time trying to lock him down.
