AC Milan eyeing summer deal for Liverpool star who could thrive under Slot

AC Milan want Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch during the upcoming summer transfer window to bolster their midfield

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is a transfer target for AC Milan during the summer to strengthen their squad with quality. Gravenberch had a mixed season with Liverpool with nagging injuries hampering his consistency in maintaining a first-team place.

However, the 22-year-old showed glimpses of his qualities that kept the fanbase and the club hopeful about his future. He has also forced his way back into the international side for the EURO 24 competition after facing temporary exile.

The Dutch international has also faced issues with his speciality, given the mixture of qualities and physique he possesses. Gravenberch has thrived in a more advanced role, almost as a number 10 when he played in midfield for Liverpool.

The 22-year-old made 39 appearances for the Reds in all competitions, contributing with four goals and two assists last season. According to the Italian publication Calciomercato, Milan wants to sign Gravenberch during the summer to bolster their midfield.

The Italian club maintained their interest in Gravenberch since his time at Ajax but they lacked financial capabilities back then. Neither Liverpool nor Gravenberch has given any hint of parting ways after just one season.

Furthermore, new head coach Arne Slot has succeeded Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and he brings different tactics and style. The Dutchman plays a possessional-based 4-3-3 formation with many variations but has a similar philosophy to Klopp.

Slot uses a number 10 in his tactics and also a number eight who can drive into the opposition box. Gravenberch could benefit massively from this tactical style of play with his capability to make progressive runs.

The 45-year-old coach is not just Dutch, which benefits Gravenberch, but also develops young talent and helps them fulfil their potential. Klopp praised the 22-year-old’s massive potential last season, and he still benefits from the faith of the fans and the club.
