Liverpool are ready to challenge Manchester United to sign Nottingham Forest defender Murillo
Nottingham Forest defender Murillo is a transfer target for both Liverpool and their historical rival Manchester United during the summer. Murillo has enjoyed a fantastic season with Nottingham despite their struggle as they nearly survived the relegation drop last season.
The Brazilian joined Nottingham from Corinthians during the summer of 2023 and established himself quickly, taking less time to adapt. Usually, players from the South American continent require time to adjust to the European playing style and the new environment.
Standing at 1.84 metres, the 21-year-old has a bulky physique that showcases his impressive strength which is an important trait. Despite, the bulkiness, Murillo is quick and capable of covering distances easily with his pace and stamina, making good recoveries.
Murillo is an aggressive defender but uses defensive intelligence before committing to any challenges in duels depending on the situation. The young Brazilian has shown immense game-reading ability, making plenty of clearance while playing in a defensively fragile team.
Murillo has to work on his aerial duels which is an essential trait in every Liverpool defender. On possession, Murillo is comfortable with long passing distribution as much as he is comfortable playing short passes.
The 21-year-old physical prowess, close control and dribbling ability help him shield the ball and come out of high-pressure situations. Murillo makes plenty of long progressive runs from the middle which is another positive aspect of his game.
According to Football Insider (via Liverpool Echo), Liverpool and Man United want Nottingham defender Murillo during the summer. Forest reported valued the Brazilian at £40 million, a steep price for a player who only played one season in Europe.
