As per Football. London, Youssouf Fofana is likely to make Arsenal his next destination and reject advances from Manchester United and Liverpool.
The Monaco midfielder is reportedly on the brink of becoming Declan Rice’s new midfield partner at Arsenal. Fofana, who was previously linked with a move to West Ham United, is a French international midfielder set to represent Les Bleus in the upcoming European Championships.
In addition to interest from West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester United have also shown admiration for the 25-year-old. The latter even made an approach for the versatile midfielder last summer, but it was swiftly rebuffed.
In November of last year, Monaco’s sporting director, Thiago Scruro, revealed that Fofana rejected an offer from Manchester United when approached by Ten Hag’s team.
Liverpool the best option for Fofana?
As he now approaches the final year of his contract, a transfer this summer seems increasingly probable for him. Among those who admire him is former Arsenal captain and Chelsea legend Cesc Fabregas. The Spanish midfield maestro spent two seasons alongside Fofana at Monaco, mentoring his development and offering valuable guidance.
One piece of advice Fabregas imparted to the talented Frenchman was that if the opportunity arose, he should consider joining Liverpool. Although the situation at Anfield has since changed with Arne Slot taking charge instead of Jurgen Klopp, Fabregas believed that Fofana would excel in the intense playing style characteristic of the Liverpool icon.
