Journo downplays Liverpool interest in Goncalo Inacio

As confirmed by Journo, David Lynch, Liverpool are not as interested in standout Iberian ace, Goncalo Inacio as reports have led people to believe. While it is true that the Reds are looking to sign a defender this summer due to the departure of Joel Matip.

The team is not in a hurry because Jarrel Quansah’s emergence has given them some breathing room. The Reds can analyze their options properly before they make a move. The team has been linked with Lille youngster, Leny Yoro in recent weeks.

The Reds were also interested in signing Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer this summer. However, Chelsea beat them to the punch and got a deal done for the defender. Adarabioyo would’ve been free, Leny Yoro on the other hand would come with a massive price tag.

The team has also been linked to Willian Pacho. It seems like the Reds are determined to sign a promising young defender this summer. Inacio sure fits the bill the 22-year-old made 49 appearances last season and even made five goal contributions for Sporting CP.

Inacio’s large frame is excellent for a defender and he is pretty intelligent about his football too. There’s no particular reason as to why the Reds aren’t that interested in the player. It could be that the team feels he’s not ready for the Premier League.

The PL is a lot more intense than Liga Portugal and the 22-year-old might not be able to cope. It could be that the Reds want someone who can come in and make an instant impact.

Talks of Inacio to Liverpool don't have much substance.
