Liverpool is actively pursuing the transfer of Juventus forward Federico Chiesa, who manager Thiago Motta has deemed “expendable”, making him a potential bargain signing.

Juventus forward Federico Chiesa is available for a bargain price under their new manager Thiago Motta amid interest from Liverpool. Motta deemed Chiesa as “expendable” and he wants to start his project at Juventus by removing the Italian star forward.

Chiesa is a renowned forward after his incredible display for Italy in the Euro 2020 competition and subsequently with Juventus. The Italy international has the pace and athleticism along with technique to produce consistent end-product and be a genuine threat.

Standing at 1.75 metres, Chiesa’s stature helps in keeping low centre of gravity alongside his close control and deceptive strength. The 26-year-old is capable of wiggling out of the tight spaces and beating defenders in one-on-one ground duels in attack.

Chiesa can play in both flanks and through the middle as a lead forward or as a second striker. The Italian constantly exploited spaces with his movement and awareness of the opposition, making him hard to mark by defenders.

Sky Sports Italy reported that Chiesa is not part of new manager Thiago Motta’s plan at Juventus and is “expendable”. According to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport (via Football Italia), Liverpool wanted Chiesa during the summer, even before the recent development.

Furthermore, Italian publication Corriere dello Sport reported that the Juventus forward could cost as low as only 25 million Euros. Given the reputation of the 26-year-old and that he has just reached his peak years, the potential price is cheap.

Liverpool want an attacking wide player capable of creating important chances and scoring goals and Chiesa fits the profile perfectly. However, the Italian international struggled with productivity last season which coincided with the club’s struggle and his past nagging injuries.

The 26-year-old made 37 appearances in all competitions for Juventus last season, contributing 10 goals and providing three assists. While Chiesa fits the profile and his bargain price is attractive, the wages and the injury record is a major concern.
