Liverpool are ready to exploit the financial situation at Newcastle United by reuniting Arne Slot with young attacker Yankuba Minteh

Newcastle United prodigy Yankuba Minteh is a transfer target for Liverpool under Arne Slot amid financial issues for the Magpies. Newcastle needs to sell their assets during the summer to comply with the Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Furthermore, their recruitment plan also hinges on selling the players that they do not want to sell to their rivals. The Magpies missed the chance to qualify for any European competition for the next season, causing them further financial misery.

Meanwhile, Minteh enjoyed a fantastic season under new Liverpool head coach Slot during their time together at Eredivisie with Feyenoord. The Gambian international played a key role under Slot and developed immensely to stake a claim at such a young age.

Standing at 1.80 metres, Minteh has the physical strength, stamina and athleticism to hold his own against any opposition defender. The 19-year-old uses his pace, close control, trickery and unpredictability to go past defenders on one-on-one duels, reaching threatening areas.

Minteh is capable of playing in the both flanks and through the central attacking position while preferring his dominant left foot. The 19-year-old prefers to play at the right flank from where he can cut inside and get into shooting positions.

However, he is fully capable of using his right foot and his unselfishness makes the Gambian very unpredictable to judge. Minteh is hard working on and off the ball, tracking back fullbacks while defending and putting in tackles and blocks.

The 19-year-old’s athletic leap and heading ability also make him a good option to win aerial battles in set-piece situations. The Gambian international made 37 appearances for Feyenoord in all competitions last season, contributing 11 goals and providing six assists.

According to Telegraph Sport, Liverpool wants to exploit Newcastle’s financial situation to sign Minteh during the summer. The Magpies are reluctantly willing to accept an offer of around £40 million for the 19-year-old, making the situation more desirable for Liverpool.

The Reds want a wide attacker who can compete with the current attacking department while succeeding experienced players like Mohamed Salah eventually. Minteh’s experience with Slot and his age makes him a fantastic option for the Reds during the summer.
