Liverpool can use Arne Slot connection to sign Dutch star this summer

As reported by Caught Offside, Liverpool are currently in the lead to sign Dutch defender, Lutsharel Geertruida thanks to his connection to Arne Slot. The 23-year-old spent the previous season playing under the Dutch manager at Feyenoord.

It is being reported that the Reds would have to spend around €20m to €25m to acquire the player. Now, while they may be leading the race for Geertruida, the 23-year-old has tons of admirers. Even Tottenham Hotspur are in the running to sign the defender.

Fans will be happy to know that the Reds have more than one advantage over the Lilywhites. First is the player’s connection to Arne Slot and second is money. While Liverpool can make a move right now, Tottenham will have to offload Emerson Royal before they have the financials to pursue Lutsharel.

Lutsharel spent 90 minutes playing at RB during the Netherlands’ game against Turkey and the 23-year-pold was a sight to behold. He’s an excellent defender and can rain terror down the right flank with this threatening presence in the final third.

If Liverpool ends up singing the player, they can even consider moving Trent Arnold Alexander to their middle line. Trent is anyway more of an offensive option than a defensive one. So, moving him to the middle line can do wonders and it just fits because the team anyway relies on him for a big chunk of their attacks.

This would fill up the gap left by Thiago in the team’s middle line. As far as the RB position goes, it would be in good hands with both Geertruida and Connor Bradley.

If Liverpool ends up signing Geertruida it would also go on to show that Arne Slot indeed has the pull to attract big names.
