Real Madrid manager and legend Carlo Ancelotti has shared his views on Klopp’s exit from Liverpool
Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti believes he knows the real reason behind why Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool this season. It came as a shocker to everyone when the German manager announced his departure back in January.
Klopp had defined an entire era at Anfield and ended up giving the club some of their highest highs and biggest players. So, it was surely upsetting for the fans to learn that the German had grown tired of the pressure and would be leaving.
Ancelotti believes Klopp’s departure had more to do with other reasons than it did with the pressure to continue winning. Here’s what the Real Madrid manager had to say about Klopp’s departure from Liverpool while speaking to Il Giornale. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
“The continuous pressure, the load of responsibilities become excessive burdens, the obsession takes over.”
He even cited Arrigo Sacchi’s example to explain what happened to Klopp, Ancelotti believes the two cases are very similar to each other. The Italian manager had a similar fate with his long-time club AC Milan. Sacchi even did two stints for the team.
In just four years with Milan, the Italian manager led the team to eight major titles including two UCL trophies. However, the enormous pressure of sustained success got to him as well and Sachhi ended up leaving the Italian giants in the summer of 1991.
Unlike Sacchi, Klopp will most likely never come back for another stint at the helm of Liverpool. Which is a good thing for him but it might not please the fans.
