Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah scored on international duty

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah scored a beautifully taken solo goal for Egypt while on international duty as he earned his side a draw against Guinea-Bissau.

Salah’s goal was a superbly directed effort and it proved once again why the former AS Roma winger needs only a half chance to make the difference when it matters most.

Salah has been Egypt’s talisman for as long as one can remember but the good news for Liverpool is that he will be absent from a continental tournament for much of the summer unlike the Europeans and South Americans.

The lethal marksman will receive a very deserved rest period for the next four to six weeks and crucially, he will be available at Arne Slot’s disposal for the entirety of pre-season.

The newly arrived Liverpool manager will have enough time before the Premier League kicks off to build the team around Mohamed Salah, who will once again be crucial for the Reds heading into 2024/25.

In spite of strong links with a move to Saudi Arabia, it looks likely that the forward will spend at least another year at Anfield even though he was not at his best in 2023/24.

Mohammed Salah has been Liverpool’s best attacker of late and will be important in 2024/25 as well.

Nonetheless, the 31-year-old produced brilliant numbers in the Premier League, scoring 18 times and adding 10 more assists to his name as Liverpool finished third in Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge.

He will be expected to step up if the Reds are to challenge Arsenal and Manchester City for the summit of the English top-flight under Slot, and more importantly, Liverpool will also be back in the Champions League.

Having made the final three times between 2018 and 2022, Slot will have just as much pressure to do well in the European Cup as in the Premier League, with Salah being one of his biggest assets even on the continental stage.
