Liverpool bank millions thanks to former flop en route to Saudi

Liverpool set to earn millions thanks to former flop Luis Alberto

As reported by The Mirror, Liverpool have been able to bank millions thanks to their former flop, Luis Alberto. It has been eight years since the Spanish midfielder left Anfield and is now on his way to play in Saudi this summer.

Qatari side, Al-Duhail has secured the signing of Alberto for £8.4m. The 31-year-old will leave SS Lazio after what has been a successful stint for him. Over the last eight seasons, Alberto has made 307 appearances for Lazio.

He spent most of his time playing as a central midfielder and was a constant threat thanks to his excellent distribution and work rate. Alberto recorded 52 goals and 79 assists for Lazio during his time there. He will not be taking his talents over to Qatar.

Luis’ move to Qatar will bring in £2.4m for the Reds, add that to the money they made from moving Alberto to Lazio and you get £5.7m. Liverpool have clearly done some good business by moving the Spanish midfielder. Eight years later, he’s still generating money for them.

Alberto’s move to Qatar comes at the perfect time for the Reds. Just this past season, Jurgen Klopp took his leave from Anfield and handed over the reins to Arne Slot. The Dutch manager will be looking to refresh his squad this summer.

Liverpool are expected to be fairly active in the market during this upcoming window so every bit of money is welcome. Thanks to Alberto taking the next step in his career the team has been able to bank millions.
