Arne Slot is unlikely to be able to get his ally from Feyenoord to join Liverpool this summer
As reported by David Lynch, Liverpool manager Arne Slot hasn’t been able to get Feyenoord coach, Etienne Reijnen to join him at Anfield. Things were looking good on this deal but ultimately fell through due to failure to acquire a work permit.
Jyri Nieminen was also expected to join Slot at Liverpool. Unfortunately, he has now become another Feyenoord coach who is unlikely to come to Anfield this summer. The Dutch manager still has a ton of vacancies to fill in his backroom staff.
It is almost comical that the Reds were able to replace Anfield legend Jurgen Klopp before he even left the club. However, replacing the staff that left along with Klopp has proven to be an almost insurmountable task for the Reds.
If John Achterberg and Jack Robinson were still on the coaching staff things would’ve been a lot easier for Slot and his team. Preseason is supposed to kick off on July 1st so the Reds clearly have their work cut out for them.
It would serve the Reds well if they diverted all their attention towards filling out the vacancies in Slot’s staff. The team can sign all the players they want, but if they fail to put a strong crew around their manager it would all be for naught.
Until the Reds manage to fill out Slot’s staff over the next two weeks, things will get increasingly difficult for the people at Anfield and the team.
