Emile Heskey gives his honest opinion on Salah replacement amid uncertain Liverpool future

Amid big uncertainties around future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, the former Liverpool star Emile Heskey backs Michael Olise to potentially be Salah’s replacement if the Reds succeed on signing the star.

Even when his form is not at his best, the Egyptian star goes on to scoring more than 20 goals for his club. Despite having a harder season than he usually has, the Egyptian winger scored 25 goals and contributed 14 assists.

With Jurgen Klopp‘s departure, Liverpool embarks on a new chapter under Arne Slot, and Salah has just one year left on his current deal. Before less than a year, the Saudi Pro League made a £150 million approach for the 31-year-old, which the Reds also turned down.

Although they successfully avoided the huge bid from the Saudi side, the speculations over the star winger’s future did not stop. The Reds do realise how important he is for the club and would most likely sit with him to talk about his future at Anfield.

Meanwhile, speaking to OLBG, the ex-Liverpool star Heskey, talked about who would he like to see as Salah’s replacement at the Reds.

“To replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool I like the look of Michael Olise. He is creative and has that free flowing style of play. But having said that, he’s got so many suitors.”

“There are also many clubs and some that can actually splurge a little bit more than others. So you have to look at PSG, with him being French as well.”

“But he would be the one that I would choose for Liverpool because he would bring the goals as well. Jarrad Bowen as well is very direct. But again, I think Liverpool probably need two wingers.”

Heskey thinks that if Liverpool decides to move Salah, in-demand player Michael Olise would be able to offer some sort of solution. Chelsea and Manchester United have already expressed interest in Crystal Palace’s winger along with the Reds this summer.

Olise has the potential to replace Salah but he still has a long way to go

Liverpool’s “transfer priority lies” with Olise, as they have had a long-term “close eye” on him. The 22-year-old scored 10 goals and provided six assists in his 19 appearances in the last season which really helped him gathering attention from multiple elite clubs.

He appears to be one of the true stars of the future, even at the young age of 22. Liverpool cannot find a better long-term Salah successor, purely on the basis of quality. The only minor concern is a pair of medium-term hamstring problems during the last two seasons.
