Liverpool handed huge boost in the pursuit of highly rated Serie A star playing in the Euros

Liverpool have Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on their radar

Liverpool chances of signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have been handed a boost after the winger’s agent confirmed that his client wants to leave Napoli this summer, as quoted in a report from Georgian TV Sport Imedi (h/t La Gazzetta dello Sport)

Heading into the summer, it is now no more a secret that Liverpool intend to sign a new centre-back and winger. Leny Yoro of LOSC Lille and Crysencio Summerville of Leeds United have emerged as targets for defence and attack, respectively.

At the same time, though, the Merseyside outfit are keeping an eye on other wide options, one of whom happens to be Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian international, 23, one of the most exciting attackers in the world, has been linked with a move to Liverpool since last year.

Over the weekend, recent revelations from the winger’s camp have set the stage for a potential exit from Napoli, offering Liverpool a chance to test the Italian side’s resolve. Mamuka Jugeli, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent, has declared his player’s desire to leave Napoli once his national team duties at the 2024 European Championships in Germany conclude.

“I don’t want people to think that Kvara wants to stay at Napoli. We want to leave, but we are waiting for the end of the Euros so as not to disturb Khvicha. The priority is to join a team that plays in the Champions League,” Jugeli told Georgian TV Sport Imedi (h/t La Gazzetta dello Sport).

This stunning declaration have not gone unanswered from Napoli. The Italian club have released a statement on their official X handle, reaffirming Kvaratskhelia’s contractual terms and obligations until 2027, highlighting that the ‘player is not for sale’ and they will decide his future.

Kvaratskhelia has been a star performer for Napoli since arriving in 2022, registering 25 goals and 26 assists in 88 appearances. He was among the chief contributors towards Napoli’s 2022/23 Scudetto success under Luciano Spalletti, tormenting defences with his dribbling skills, acceleration and technical quality.

The Georgian, who will look to catch the eye at the 2024 Euros in Germany, was headed towards agreeing a new contract at Naples but the developments over the recent weekend have left the door wide open for a departure.

More Liverpool News!

Liverpool have admired the fleet-footed winger in recent years. Now, we may be on red alert with an interesting situation having developed in Naples. As the Reds look to strengthen the squad under new manager Arne Slot, the addition of a world-class talent like Kvaratskhelia could significantly enhance our attacking options for the new season.
