Liverpool star Luis Diaz reveals his favourite football legends and players, fueling more transfer gossip amid persistent interest from Barcelona
Barcelona have persistently chased Liverpool star Luis Diaz as he recently revealed his favourite football legends, fueling the transfer rumours. Diaz revealed that Ronaldinho was his favourite legend as a kid while picking Lionel Messi as his current favourite footballer.
The 27-year-old also mentioned Neymar as one of his favourites before settling for Messi, displaying soft-spot towards several Barcelona legends. Barcelona have signed many high-profile South American talents from Liverpool in the past after they developed their reputation at Anfield.
Liverpool have reluctantly sold Phillipe Coutinho, Luis Suarez and Javier Mascherano to Barcelona because of their admiration for the club. However, the Reds made a massive profit from Coutinho’s sale kickstarting their successful era under legendary manager Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking in the Ask Me Anything episode (h/t YouTube), Diaz revealed his favourite legend and current favourite players. He said:
“Well, my favourite player has always been, since I was a kid, Ronaldinho. You could say he’s, favourite legend. Current favourite? Messi. I’ve always liked Messi. I’ve always liked Neymar as well, but I’ll pick Messi.”
Barcelona sporting director Deco want Diaz to solve their attacking problem at the left side of the pitch. Furthermore, the statement from Diaz’s father in the middle of the last season generated more rumours about the potential sale.
Diaz’s father claimed that Barcelona is his son’s favourite club since childhood and a potential move could still happen. The Catalan giants’ struggle with finances is a big obstacle to signing the 27-year-old who the Reds want to keep.
Diaz is a fan favourite at Anfield with his dazzling skills and high work ethic for the team. The Colombian started regularly under Klopp last season despite having many ups and downs with his form.
