Juventus contract rebel Adrien Rabiot has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool

According to a report from Sport Italia, Liverpool have carried out recent surveys on soon-to-be out-of-contract Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The central midfielder’s current terms at Old Lady expire at the end of June with no sign of progress over a new deal. As things stand, Juventus offered Adrien Rabiot, 29, a two-year deal worth €7.5 million to €8m before the 2024 Euros and had been expecting a response before he flew with the French squad to Germany.

However, the player’s response did not arrive. Furthermore, Veronique Rabiot, Adrien’s mom and agent, would have asked for a commission to renew the contract, the report states. With contract talks seemingly at a standstill, Liverpool and Real Madrid have shown an interest in signing the 29-year-old midfielder on a free this summer.

The Reds are facing a huge summer transfer window as they look to provide new manager Arne Slot with the required tools to build a strong squad for the 2024/25 campaign. Jurgen Klopp has laid a strong base and culture at Anfield and the Reds’ hierarchy must now do all they can to build on it.

Arne Slot and Liverpool are known to be keen to add a new central midfielder this summer with Thiago Alcantara departing on a free transfer at the end of the month. They could do well with a strong, experienced midfielder this year, which makes Rabiot an interesting option.

Rabiot is an established player who has performed very well in the last two seasons at Juventus. The Frenchman has made over 200 appearances for the Turin giants since moving to Italy on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. He is currently busy with the France squad at the European Championships, with the midfielder performing well in Les Blues’ opening two group-stage fixtures.

The Merseyside club could do a good job by replacing Thiago with Rabiot, who can operate in multiple positions across the middle of the park. New Juventus boss Thiago Motta is hoping to keep the 29-year-old at the club, but after contract talks with the club have been stalling for some time now, Liverpool could persuade him to Anfield with the new project under Arne Slot.

Rabiot will become a free agent next month, and signing a player of his quality, versatility and European experience on a Bosman transfer would represent a coup of sorts for the Reds.
