RB Leipzig are keen on signing Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton
According to a report by The Times, RB Leipzig want to permanently sign 21-year-old Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton this summer after an impressive loan spell in the EFL Championship last season.
Morton played his final game for the Reds in the FA Cup in March 2022. He has made nine senior appearances for Liverpool, all during the 2021–2022 season. The midfielder spent the last two campaigns on loan with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.
His loan stint with Hull City was particularly impressive and caught the eye of RB Leipzig. Morton quickly established himself as a key member of Hull’s squad, making 39 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing five assists in the Championship.
The young midfielder would aim to return to Merseyside for pre-season training under new head coach Arne Slot, but he might be on the move shortly after, with several high-profile teams eyeing a permanent deal this summer.
Arne Slot and Richard Hughes, who will meet most of their players when they return for pre-season training at the beginning of July, will certainly have a say in the 21-year-old’s future.
Given Morton’s desire to keep improving, returning to the Championship might not be the best course of action. As he is still in the early stages of his career, Morton will undoubtedly aim to excel in a top tournament like the Premier League. A move to a top-flight club, such as RB Leipzig, could provide him with the ideal platform to develop further and showcase his talents on a larger stage.
Given Tyler Morton’s potential and impressive performances on loan, Liverpool will likely seek a substantial fee to reflect his value. The club will want to ensure that any deal not only benefits Morton’s career progression but also provides Liverpool with a fair return on their investment in his development.
