Liverpool boss Arne Slot has made the signing of Real Madrid’s Arda Guler a top priority

According to a report from TEAMtalk (h/t Fichajes), Liverpool boss Arne Slot has made the signing of Real Madrid sensation Arda Guler a prime objective this summer.

Arne Slot has taken over from Jurgen Klopp at the helm of the Reds in May. Under his leadership, the Merseyside giants are looking to strengthen multiple positions across the squad to improve next season and challenge for major honours once again.

TEAMtalk (h/t Fichajes) claims Liverpool are keen to strengthen their squad with key Real Madrid players. One of those to emerge on the club’s radar is Arda Guler. The Turkish playmaker, 19, only joined Real Madrid last summer in dramatic circumstances as Barcelona were initially understood to be favourites for his signature but Los Blancos made a late entry and hijacked the deal.

However, upon signing for Real Madrid, the teenager struggled with injury problems during the first half of the season. Guler recovered in time to feature in the business end of the campaign, netting six goals in four La Liga starts as Real won the league title.

Off the back of a strong end to the 2023/24 campaign, the creative midfielder has impressed at the 2024 European Championships, most notably scoring a spectacular goal in Turkey’s 3-1 win over Georgia in their opening group-stage fixture. The Turkish talent’s performances at a big stage have caught the attention of many clubs, including Liverpool.

However, there are concerns over Guler’s game time at Santiago Bernabeu next season, especially following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick. This has alerted Liverpool, who as per TEAMtalk (h/t Fichajes) are prepared to splash big for the Turkey international, especially after getting signs that Real Madrid could be willing to let him go this summer—possibly on loan.

Arne Slot wants Guler to be a part of his revolution at Anfield but his club is likely to face competition. Real Sociedad are among the interested parties for the 19-year-old’s signature.

Liverpool are seemingly looking to take advantage of the situation at Real and bring Guler to Anfield. Guler, rated among the best talents in Europe, may find a temporary move to Liverpool attractive considering the competition within Carlo Ancelotti’s squad after the arrivals of Mbappe and Endrick. A switch to Anfield would give him a platform to play regularly under Arne Slot and establish himself in Europe.
