Liverpool star drops retirement hint after crashing out of UEFA Euro 2024

Liverpool star drops retirement hint following Euro 2024 exit

Liverpool star Andrew Robertson will return home early this summer following Scotland’s elimination from the 2024 Euros. The Scotts finished bottom of their group losing two of their three games and drawing one. It has been a tough tournament for Scotland and Robertson.

Scotland were knocked out at the hands of Hungary who got away with a 1-0 victory in a must-win affair for both sides. After the game, the Liverpool star dropped a retirement hint when speaking to the media. Let’s have a look at what Robertson had to say about the situation. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

“That’s what we have to hope in the future but tonight, and for a long time, we have to get over this unfortunately. It’s a tough one.

“With international football, sometimes you lose players and things like that. We’ll see what happens with that.”

Robertson added that tonight was devastating not only for him but also for the players. He said that everyone in the team was gutted about the loss. Scotland will not begin to pick themselves up again but Robertson says that will be a slow and lengthy process.

Before ending his statement, Andrew thanked the fans. He was very appreciative by how the Scotland crowd showed up game after game to support their team. He also apologised to the fans for letting them down. Surely, the fans will appreciate the massive effort given by these lads.

Hopefully, Scotland will be back competing the next time the Euros come around. However, there’s no surety whether Robertson will be a part of that team or not.

It’ll be interesting to see what decision Robertson makes regarding his international career. It would be a sad sight to see him hang up the boots for his country. While Scotland goes home, Dominik Szoboszlai and Hungary will be advancing to the next round.
