Liverpool are ready to battle Chelsea and Arsenal to sign Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman during the summer transfer window
Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman is a transfer target for Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool as they seek to strengthen their attack. Liverpool are assessing the attacking options in the transfer market to bolster their current squad after last season’s struggle.
The Reds faced a poor end to the season which cost them the Europa League and the Premier League title. Their attack department faced severe criticism for the drastic dip in form and consistent wastefulness in productivity throughout the season.
Liverpool cannot afford the repeat of similar problems under new head coach Arne Slot as they go through a transition. The different tactical style of the new coach would require the scouting team to change the profile of desired players.
According to HITC (via Liverpool Echo), Liverpool alongside their Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea want Coman during the summer. Bayern are close to signing Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise which puts Coman’s position in the senior squad at threat.
The France international made 27 appearances in all competitions for Bayern last season, contributing five goals and providing three assists. Coman has the versatility to operate at either flank and contribute in the threatening areas for his team.
The 28-year-old has a blistering pace and unpredictability that makes him very dangerous to deal with, keeping opposition defenders under pressure. However, Coman has dealt with numerous injuries, which poses a major concern for Liverpool if they are serious about the player.
The Reds have already suffered greatly with injury-prone players in their squad that already lack depth compared to their rivals. Liverpool possessed incredible talents such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita who barely featured due to persistent injuries.

Furthermore, Coman’s age makes him a doubtful candidate for the Reds as they prefer young talents who can learn to adjust to Liverpool’s philosophy. While Coman has the quality, it is highly doubtful that Liverpool would go for a player of his age and injury record.
