Liverpool intensify their efforts to sign Arda Guler from Real Madrid
According to a report from Spanish outlet Marca (h/t The Daily Mirror), Liverpool have made contact with Real Madrid over the potential signing of Turkish sensation Arda Guler.
Arda Guler, 19, struggled to get regular opportunities in his debut season at Real Madrid due to a combination of injury problems and strong competition within the squad. The teenage playmaker managed to maintain his fitness during the business end of the season, contributing to six goals in four league starts as Los Blancos won the La Liga title.
Having enjoyed a strong end to his first season in Spanish football, he headed to the 2024 Euros in Germany on a high and scored a wonder goal in Turkey’s 3-1 win over Georgia in their opening group-stage fixture. Arda Guler’s performances at the ongoing European Championships have caught the attention of Liverpool.
As there are concerns over the 19-year-old’s game time at Real Madrid next season, especially following the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, Marca (h/t The Daily Mirror) claims Liverpool are looking to take advantage of the situation and lure Arda Guler to Anfield. And the Reds already have an answer from Real Madrid which doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.
The European champions have no intention of selling Guler, having only signed him from Fenerbahce last summer. However, they could reportedly be open to loaning him out ahead of next season, which must prompt Liverpool into action.
The Turkey international, rated among the biggest talents in Europe, would be a smashing addition to Arne Slot’s squad. Arne Slot will be keen to make a strong impression on his debut season in England and help the Reds win trophies. He certainly needs quality signings to come through the front door of the club, and someone like Guler could be a game-changer for the Merseyside giants.
Capable of playing in multiple positions across the midfield and attack, Guler would enhance Slot’s first XI as well as add quality depth to the squad. The Turkish ace will add goals, creativity, flair and energy in the final third, helping the Reds compete with the biggest clubs in Europe.
