Liverpool winger Luis Diaz moving to Barcelona largely depends on Raphinha leaving the Camp Nou

According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool forward Luis Diaz can only join Barcelona if Raphinha is sold this summer.

Barcelona winger Raphinha has been tipped for a move to Saudi Arabia after two inconsistent seasons at Camp Nou. Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are keen on signing the Brazilian winger, with manager Jorge Jesus particularly interested in his signature.

In fact, Jorge Jesus has already contacted Barcelona to explore a possible move for the ex-Leeds United star, who is currently representing Brazil at the 2024 Copa America. Barcelona will only consider selling Raphinha if a club tables an offer in the region of €90million, but all is down to the player accepting a move. As of now, the Brazil international has no intentions of leaving the Catalan club.

Luis Diaz’s arrival at Barcelona largely hinges on Raphinha. The Catalan giants view Luis Diaz as a potential replacement for Raphinha if he decides to exit Camp Nou as they feel the Colombia international is a better fit for the left wing when compared to the Brazilian.

Diaz, 27, has been on the radar of Barcelona for some time now as they look to add a strong wide man to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. He is one of the La Liga club’s primary options to reinforce their attack under new manager Hansi Flick.

The Liverpool star is also ‘seduced’ by Barcelona’s interest and would be open to joining them, even though he is well-settled at Liverpool. However, he is aware of the fact that only Raphinha’s departure could facilitate his transfer to Camp Nou and is willing to wait for the dream opportunity to represent Blaugrana colours.

Diaz produced an eye-catching display to help Colombia beat Paraguay 2-1 in their 2024 Copa America opener at Houston on Tuesday, further enhancing his stock. It was a good sign for a player who endured a mixed 2023/24 campaign for Liverpool, where he managed 13 goals and five assists in all competitions.

It seems like Diaz wants a move to Barcelona despite his latest admission of being happy at Anfield. Liverpool have been linked with Portugal international Pedro Neto this summer, and if we can cash in on Diaz, it could facilitate a move for the Wolves star.
