Liverpool rejected the offer from Newcastle United for Anthony Gordon which involved Jarell Quansah in a surprise transfer swap deal

Newcastle United proposed a transfer swap deal involving Anthony Gordon, requesting the inclusion of Jarell Quansah which Liverpool sternly rejected. Liverpool wants Gordon to bolster their attack department under the new head coach Arne Slot after last season’s struggle.

However, the idea of having Quansah as part of the deal is non-negotiable as he has established himself at Liverpool. Quansah has all the ability and maturity to become a regular first-team player after earning a promotion to Liverpool’s academy.

The 21-year-old emulates captain Virgil van Dijk’s style of play, showcasing his calmness and ball-playing abilities. Despite his age, Quansah is not for sale as Liverpool believes he can dominate at the highest level for years.

Meanwhile, Newcastle signed Gordon from Everton last summer and he produced impressive and productive performances for the Magpies last season. The 23-year-old can play at any position in the attack but prefers to play as a left-winger.

He has shown that he can be equally productive as a right-winger, the position where Liverpool needs competition. The legendary forward Mohamed Salah dominated Liverpool’s right side for years but the age is catching up to him.

Salah has continued to be productive but last season’s surprise dip in form and problems with injury is very concerning. Liverpool could benefit from having a suitable competitor for the Egyptian who can eventually succeed him as the regular starter.

According to Metro, Newcastle requested Quansah’s inclusion as part of the deal involving Gordon’s transfer to Liverpool. Liverpool immediately rejected the deal as they had no interest in letting Quansah go at any price.

Newcastle faces constant pressure from PSR to restrict their transfer activities as they missed out on next season’s European football as well. Liverpool could still find a deal that benefits both the clubs and the players as the mutual admiration between the Reds and Gordon is well-known.
