Ex-Liverpool midfielder wants club to keep this superstar at all costs amidst Saudi interest

Former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko wants Arne Slot to retain Mohamed Salah’s services amid Saudi interest

Former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has advised new manager Arne Slot to keep hold of star forward Mohamed Salah at any cost.

Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff have worked hard to leave strong foundations behind them for Arne Slot to build on. Of course, fans are excited for new signings to come through the front door of the club but Arne Slot appears to be a calm and composed man who will not be making a final decision before fully evaluating the full squad.

Some big-profile players have helped the Reds taste rich success during the Jurgen Klopp. One of those is undoubtedly Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward has achieved legendary status in the hearts of the Kopites for his extraordinary contributions season after season. He has bagged 211 goals and 89 assists in 349 games for Liverpool across all formats since his arrival from AS Roma in 2017, winning every major honour.

Salah was the subject of an eye-watering £150 million bid from Saudi Arabia last summer. With a ludicrous salary on offer, it would have been tempting for the forward to accept a move to Saudi Arabia but the Reds rejected the mega bid.

it is an open secret that the Saudis still admire the 32-year-old and want to bring him to the Middle East. The Egyptian has entered the final year of his contract, and Liverpool risks losing him on a free transfer next summer. However, with Arne Slot replacing Klopp in the managerial hotseat, Mo Sissoko wants the new Liverpool boss to include Salah in his plans moving forward.

“I was really sad when I heard the news that Klopp was leaving. But that is in the past now, so we need to support the new manager because we all want to maintain the standards we’ve had under Klopp,” Sissoko told in an interview with Responsible Gambling.

“They have to keep Salah, and I know this is business, but he’s so important, you know. A lot of African players have had success at Liverpool in the past, including Sadio Mane, myself, and Salah, and that is why they have a global fanbase.”

Mohamed Salah is still attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

As the Reds are entering a new era under Slot, the importance of retaining key figures while rebuilding the squad becomes so vital. Salah’s impact at the club has been undeniable, achieving extraordinary levels of consistency under Klopp’s management and establishing himself as one of the greats in the Premier League.

At 32, the Egyptian can still deliver at the highest level for at least a couple of years and play a pivotal role in Slot’s reign as well. It becomes important to secure his future as quickly as possible as the forward has entered the final year of his contract.

Replacing a world-class player like Salah is a herculean task, and while the recruitment team has shown in the past that they can unearth gems from different markets and replace experienced players, it will be in our club’s best interests to keep the Egyptian maestro.
