Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville
According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.
Crysencio Summerville looks to depart Elland Road this summer after Leeds United failed to secure promotion to the Premier League. Despite his eye-catching contributions of 19 goals and nine assists in 43 league appearances in an outstanding individual campaign, the Whites were defeated by Southampton in the Championship play-off final in May.
Failure to achieve promotion meant the Yorkshire-based club had been under pressure to raise funds by June 30 in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), but the sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur has now reduced the need to offload players further.
However, it will be difficult for the Championship side to keep hold of Summerville, with the aforementioned report claiming that Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have also asked about the 22-year-old. Brighton and Hove Albion have also talked with the player’s camp but have been put off by his contractual demands.
Summerville was Daniel Farke’s best player at Elland Road last season. His dazzling performances in the Championship have piqued the interest of several top clubs including Liverpool.
The Reds have a strong left flank with Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo as major options. However, Diaz’s future has been plunged into doubt amid heavy interest from Barcelona in recent months. The 27-year-old, currently away with Colombia for Copa America in the United States, is waiting for Barcelona to make a concrete proposal to Liverpool.
The Merseyside giants will need to invest in a wide forward who prefers to play on the left wing if Diaz leaves for Barcelona. That would make Summerville a perfect fit for Arne Slot’s side. The Dutchman prefers the left-wing position regardless of having the flexibility to operate as a false 9 or in the hole behind the striker. He would add pace, flair, energy and goals to the Liverpool side while trimming the age of the squad.

Now that PSG have also entered the race, it remains to be seen what is Leeds’ valuation of the player, though, it isn’t likely to be cheap given just how important Summerville was to them over the 2023/24 campaign.
