Mohamed Salah replacement, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, wants a move to England amid Liverpool interest
Sooner rather than later, Liverpool have to start planning for life after Mohamed Salah as he is on the wrong side of the 30-year mark and is widely expected to be on the move to Saudi Arabia next year, once his contract with the Reds expires.
According to British newspaper Mirror, the Merseysiders have been pondering over the capture of Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after he has enjoyed a few good campaigns in the Serie A and was also impressive with Georgia at Euro 2024.
The forward’s highlight in the summer was a goal against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal side as the eastern European nation claimed a famous win over the Euro 2016 winners to progress to this year’s round of 16.
And although the Georgians were knocked out by Spain, there is little to discredit about Kvaratskhelia, whose camp has confirmed that they will seek an exit route from Napoli this summer to pursue bigger and better things.
Mirror’s report has added that in spite of Napoli’s public stance of holding onto Kvaratskhelia, the player is tempted by the prospect of moving to the Premier League and is ready to turn down Paris Saint-Germain in order to do so.
Former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann has already blessed the 23-year-old as a ‘close to perfect’ replacement for Mohamed Salah. Speaking about the Napoli ace, the German said the following:
“I like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, I like him a lot. I read an interview and his dad said that they need to find a solution regarding his future this summer. He’d be brilliant at Liverpool, and, if you’re talking about Salah replacements, then he’s probably as close to a perfect replacement that Liverpool could find.”
Liverpool have a big hole to fill in the shape of Mo Salah but it is hard to disagree with Hamann’s words. Kvaratskhelia has indeed been the cream of the crop in the Serie A and was vital to Napoli winning the competition in the 2022/23 campaign.
Although Antonio Conte’s side is keen on retaining his services, an attractive offer from Liverpool coupled by the player forcing for a move to accord with his wishes may eventually break Napoli’s stance.
