Paris Saint-Germain are keen to sign Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate
Ibrahima Konate is the summer transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain as they are waiting for the green light from Liverpool. Konate is currently representing France in the Euro 2024 but he has not featured due to a lack of fitness.
France have preferred Dayot Upamecano and William Saliba over Konate due to his fitness issues despite struggling in the tournament.
The 25-year-old struggled with recurring injuries throughout his tenure at Liverpool despite displaying all-round quality as a dominant central defender. Konate has also not provided any hint or voiced any desire to leave the Reds in the current transfer window.
The Frenchman played 37 games in all competitions for Liverpool last season, contributing a goal and receiving five yellow cards. He received a red card against Arsenal in the 3-1 Premier League loss, suffering two yellow cards in the second half.
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rotated Konate with youngster Jarell Quansah to keep him fit for a longer time period. However, the 25-year-old suffered a surprise dip in form, struggling to display his usual dominance in the defence last season.
Liverpool suffered from complacency and poor concentration from the defence as they conceded many early goals throughout the last season. While the attack bailed them out numerous times, their failure in the last stages of the season proved too costly.
According to French outlet PSG Inside Actus (via Insidefutbol), PSG wants to sign Konate this summer to bolster their defence. Liverpool are currently evaluating their defence to stop the repeat of last season’s struggle and end defensive vulnerabilities completely.

Konate is a key part of the senior squad at Anfield and any potential deal would require enormous spending. However, PSG are financially capable of spending huge money to acquire their target as they have shown in the past.
