PSG are making progress in their pursuit of Liverpool target Dean Huijsen
Liverpool are in the market for a centre-back and it is no surprise that Juventus sensation Dean Huijsen is on their radar. One of the finest young talents in Serie A, he is also attracting attention from Paris Saint Germain, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart.
The 19-year-old joined Juventus from Malaga in 2021 and has since made an impression in Turin and at AS Roma, the latter of which he spent half a season on loan in 2023-24. His potential is sky-high, prompting then-Roma boss Jose Mourinho to prophesize a long and storied career for the player.
Huijsen is a 6’5 centre-back who also excels with the ball at his feet. He has both the physicality and technical prowess to make it as a top-tier modern ball-playing defender. Still just 19, the sky is the limit for the youngster in the right system.
With Leny Yoro eyeing a move to Real Madrid, PSG have identified Huijsen as their priority centre-back target this summer. The Spanish U-21 star has already agreed to move to the Parc des Princes and is expected to sign a deal until 2029. However, the Ligue 1 holders are yet to meet Juventus’s €30 million asking price.
Luis Enrique is a fan of the youngster and appears keen to get the deal over the line. According to Tuttosport via PSG Talk, there has been progress in talks regarding Huijsen between PSG and Juventus. Bayer Munich also appear to be making progress but with the player keen to join PSG, the French champions have an edge.
With Liverpool far behind when it comes to making their move, it is fair to say that it is unlikely that Huijsen will arrive at Anfield anytime soon. While the Reds are in the market for a centre-back, it remains to be seen if Sepp van den Berg’s rise will see them close the door on an external solution.
Landing Huijsen will certainly be a statement of intent by Liverpool but with Van den Berg and Jarell Quansah coming through, we have enough young talent on the roster that can moulded into elite-level footballers. Doing so will also free up funds that can be used to strengthen more pressing areas of the squad.

Mourinho has a keen eye for talent and he might as well be right in the assessment of Huijsen. However, we already have some excellent prospects in our roster at centre-back and there is no reason to worry should we miss out on Huijsen. The Liverpool academy has come up trumps in recent years and is not slowing down anytime soon.
