Liverpool have been offered the opportunity to sign French international Adrien Rabiot
According to an exclusive story by HITC, Premier League giants have been offered the services of Adrien Rabiot by his agent in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract at Juventus expired on June 30th. While the Italian giants were keen to retain the Frenchman, Rabiot’s entourage failed to get back with an answer. They have since signed Khephren Thuram and Douglas Luiz, adding to their midfield roster.
An experienced player, Rabiot can don multiple roles in the middle of the park. He can function as a central midfielder and also do a job out wide on the left. The ability to double up as a defensive midfielder will be of interest to the Reds.
As things stand, Liverpool have just Wataru Endo on their senior defensive midfield roster. With the prodigious Stefan Bajcetic coming through, it is imperative that we do not bring in another young player who could potentially handicap the Spaniard’s progress.
Securing Rabiot, especially for free could prove to be an inspired addition. Coming in as a free agent at 29, the Frenchman can provide us with a solution in the role for the next few years in rotation with Endo as we bring Bajcetic up to speed. In the long term, he could prove to be a low-cost, low-risk option to plug a key gap in our roster.
A self-professed Steven Gerrard fan, Rabiot could welcome a move to Anfield should it materialise. A transfer to England could be on the cards as his agent has also offered the 29-year-old’s services to Manchester United and Arsenal. The player’s entourage are seeking around €9m in wages and a lot will depend on whether the Reds are ready to offer it.
Rabiot does come with baggage given the antics of his mother, who also acts as his agent. However, he also brings with him a wealth of experience in France and Italy, where he has won a combined 22 major honours at the club level. Rabiot was also part of the French side that won the UEFA Nations League in 2021 and finished runners-up in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

At the end of the day, while Rabiot is a good player, the baggage that he carries could upset the balance and squad harmony should things turn dire. But then as a short-term fix, he could very well be what we need at the moment. Using him alongside Endo could help us rotate both players effectively while ensuring Bajcetic also takes the next step in his development.
