Dutch pundit outlines the x-factor that Arne Slot has brought to Liverpool but Erik ten Hag failed to at Manchester United

Liverpool have a new head coach at the helm as Arne Slot takes charge of his first season at Anfield, and the Dutch manager has been impressing the pundits in his home country already.

All eyes would be on the Merseyside Reds as he makes an attempt to replace possibly the greatest Liverpool manager in the modern history of the club. Slot took charge of the Premier League giants following a successful spell in the Netherlands with Feyenoord, where he lifted the KNVB Cup and finished second in the Eredivisie.

He has been impressing fellow Dutch pundit Bram van Polen, who spent his entire career with PEC Zwolle. Bram van Polen has been impressed with the combination of Arne Slot’s coaching staff, unlike that of Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, who has filled his back room with Dutch coaches at Old Trafford.

The former Ajax coach has hired Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake to deputise him at Carrington, something that Bram believes to be ‘dangerous’ as it limits the range of thoughts.

Slot approach is a contrast to Ten Hag’s Manchester United rebuild

Dutch pundit outlines the x-factor that Arne Slot has brought to Liverpool but Erik ten Hag failed to at Manchester United.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Voetbal Primeur, Bram said:

“It is also dangerous in the way that Ten Hag gathers so many Dutch people around him. You don’t know if that is wise.

“You are a bit afraid of that lack of diversity. Because he is signing all those Dutchmen, we will also be less well-regarded abroad. I think that Slot is very consciously trying not to bring in all Dutch people at once. You do create a certain image; you have to want to stay away from that to some extent.”

Dutch or not, we hope Liverpool brings in the right people to lead us to a new era of success. Anton Ego in the movie Ratatouille quoted that “Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist can come from anywhere”. Its time Liverpool also heeded that advice when it comes to coaches.

The Reds have a commendable staff and structure in place to ensure that the club continues to evolve on an upward trajectory. Bringing in a cocktail of experiences and fresh perspectives, the Dutchman will look to build on the progress that the club has made under Klopp.
