Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is soon to receive a tempting package from the cash-rich Saudi Pro League

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are prepared to receive a ‘jaw-dropping’ offer from Saudi Arabia for their star goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Alisson Becker has been the Reds’ undisputed No.1 ever since arriving from Serie A side AS Roma during the summer of 2018. He became the most expensive goalkeeper of all time when Liverpool splashed £67million for his services, and the decision to bring in the glovesman six years ago has paid rich dividends for the club.

The Brazil international has amassed 263 appearances across all competitions for the Merseyside giants, helping them win the Champions League and Premier League among major honours. Having served remarkably well for Liverpool over the years, Alisson has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

Thus, it isn’t surprising to see the cash-rich Saudi Pro League clubs attempting to lure the Liverpool star to the Middle East. Alisson, who was recently away with Brazil for the Copa America, has been on the Saudi Arabian clubs’ radar since May.

The aforementioned report claims the Saudi Pro League are continuing their attempts to recruit some of European football’s best talents and remain in discussions over tabling an eye-watering package for Alisson. Liverpool have no intentions of cashing in the 31-year-old this summer, as new boss Arne Slot hopes to keep hold of the club’s first-choice shot-stopper. However, they are worried about the prospect of the Brazilian having his head turned by Saudi’s lucrative package.

Arne Slot and Co. are trying their level best to reinforce various of the squad after the Reds went off the boil during the business end of this past campaign and finished third in the Premier League. With plenty of problems needing addressing, the last thing the Dutch tactician would want is to lose his No.1 ahead of his maiden season at Anfield.

Alisson Becker has been a fantastic servant for Liverpool.

There is significant goalkeeping uncertainty in the red half of Merseyside this summer, with veteran Adrian leaving the club on a free transfer to re-join his boyhood club Real Betis and Caoimhin Kelleher angling a move away in order to establish himself as a No.1 after spending years as a deputy to Alisson. And now there is speculation surrounding the future of Alisson, who has a contract at Anfield until 2027 (Transfermarkt).

Slot and club’s top officials must do everything possible to keep hold of Alisson. The 31-year-old’s importance to Liverpool needs no further explanation, having proven himself to be such a reliable presence between the sticks ever since joining from Roma.

However, our club will be helpless to retain Alisson’s services in case one of the Saudi Pro League clubs manages to turn his head by offering a mouthwatering package. Given the latest murmurs, it will be in Liverpool’s best interests to start hunting for our No.1’s potential replacements.
