Liverpool centre-back Billy Koumetio on Dundee United’s radar
According to French football journalist Marc Mechenoua, Scottish side Dundee United are monitoring the situation of Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio.
The former France U18 international spent the first half of last season at Ligue 2 side Dunkerque, while spending the second half in England with Championship side Blackburn Rovers, though he struggled at both clubs and made no league appearances for the latter.
The season before, Koumetio had spent a year on loan at Admiral Bundesliga side Austria Wien.
Koumetio joined the Liverpool academy in 2018 before joining the senior Reds setup two years later. Born in Lyon, he spent four years at the Olympique Lyonnais youth academy between 2014 and 2018.
The 6ft-5inch defender is valued by Transfermarkt at €500,000, with his current Liverpool contract set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Much to prove
So far in his career, Koumetio has looked like a player finding life hard at the senior level after successfully graduating from youth-level football.
With just a year remaining in his Liverpool contract, it feels very unlikely that he will get a chance to play for the Reds, who would prefer cashing in on him this summer instead of losing him for nothing next year.
