Liverpool are not interested in making a move for French star Adrien Rabiot who could be on his way to Manchester United
French international Adrien Rabiot has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United following his exit from Juventus after his contract in Turin expired earlier this summer.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed considerable success at both Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, winning a total of 22 major honours. Rabiot was also part of the French side that won the UEFA Nations League in 2021 and finished runners-up in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 where they lost to Argentina.
Now available for free, Rabiot brings with him a wealth of experience and trophy-winning pedigree. More so, he is also a versatile player capable of fulfilling several roles in the squad at the highest level. On paper, the Frenchman is a sensational potential addition, especially given his status as a free agent.
While Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for Rabiot, Mail Sport’s Merseyside correspondent, Lewis Steele took to X to pour cold water on the news. He confirmed that the Reds were never in for Rabiot’s services and reiterated that bringing him to Anfield is not on the club’s agenda.
This adds context to the talk that Rabiot is set to opt for Manchester United over Liverpool. Following what happened with Leny Yoro, this would have been the second time in as many weeks that our arch-rivals pulled the rug from under our feet. Thankfully, according to Steel, that does not appear to be the case.
Rabiot’s departure from Juventus combined with his entourage’s off-field antics point to a player who could become a disruption in the dressing room. The Jurgen Klopp era helped build an age of unity on Merseyside and Arne Slot appears set to follow in the same footsteps. It is in our best interests to not bring in players who can threaten the status quo and cause friction to further personal agendas.
Losing out on a player such as Rabiot is not something that Liverpool should be concerned about. We are currently well-stocked in the midfield and also have several young prospects on the cusp of taking up a larger role. Signing Rabiot would have only been an obstacle in their path.

Liverpool do not need a summer of overhaul but rather one where they make critical additions in key areas. Rabiot while good is not a difference maker and one can argue isn’t better than any of the names already on our roster. It is good to know that the decision-makers at Anfield are not barking up the wrong tree.
