Liverpool have no intention of selling Luis Diaz this summer amid huge interest from European and Saudi clubs
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Liverpool have informed Luis Diaz and his agent that they have no interest in selling the player this summer amid widespread interest.
The speculation surrounding Luis Diaz’s future has been among the hot topics since the start of the summer. The silky-skilled entertainer from Barrancas has caught the eyes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Ahli despite a mixed 2023/24 campaign at Anfield.
He suffered a serious knee injury during the 2022/23 season that resulted in him missing 31 games, and perhaps that is one of the reasons why he wasn’t as effective last season as he usually has been for the club since arriving from FC Porto. Nevertheless, clubs from Europe and the Middle East keep hovering over the 27-year-old, who was a part of the Colombian team that lost 1-0 to Argentina in the Copa America final earlier this month.
Despite interest from Barcelona and PSG, Diaz isn’t the top target for either of the clubs. The aforementioned report states Barcelona are committed to the signing of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, while PSG’s main focus lies in Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia—which has given Liverpool some respite in keeping hold of the Colombian.
Barcelona and PSG’s attention towards securing their primary targets signals towards Diaz staying at Anfield for another season, even though there remains interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli. At 27 and with a lot to achieve in Europe, it would be a major shock if the fleet-footed pushes for a move to the Middle East if Al-Ahli came calling.
Liverpool’s commitment to retaining Diaz, a player who has been such a vital cog in the attacking machine since he arrived from FC Porto in January 2022, is very clear. The 27-year-old proved to be an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking arsenal and there are no doubts why he cannot emulate the same under our new gaffer Arne Slot.
The Reds’ stance of not selling the Colombian underlines their belief in the player’s ability and continued contribution to the team’s success. Diaz’s flair, energy, guile and drive, combined with his ability to make a difference in crucial moments over the last two-and-a-half years, has made him a Kop favourite.

As the 2024/25 season is less than a month away, the Kopites can feel relaxed with the latest developments surrounding Diaz’s future. This would also give Diaz confidence that Arne Slot is counting on him for the upcoming season, with any rumours of a move away from Anfield can now be firmly dismissed.
