West Ham United have made a bid for Liverpool target Crysencio Summerville
Liverpool could be trumped for yet another signing this summer if West Ham United beats us to the punch regarding Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.
According to Fabrizio Romano via X, the Hammers have already made a bid for the Dutchman and held talks with the player’s side. However, a deal is far from done, as the financials involved cannot be considered cheap. However, the Londoners are first to the party and will be expected to make that advantage count going forward.
Summerville is coming off a solid season at Elland Road, netting 19 goals and assisting nine more in 23 Championship games in 2023/24. The 22-year-old was unable to take his side home as a late collapse in the dying weeks of the campaign saw Leeds surrender points at the top of the table before eventually bottling the Championship Playoff final.
Despite failing to perform when needed, Summerville is attracting attention from several sides across Europe. Italian giants, AS Roma are also in the fray but do not consider the Dutchman to be their top target. This could change if they fail to land Matias Soule. With West Ham also eyeing the Juventus star, the two transfer sagas could be more connected than we think.
Capable of playing on either flank, Summerville has often been dubbed Sadio Mane 2.0. The Senegalese superstar was part of an all-conquering Reds frontline, and one can argue that the club has yet to replace his effectiveness on the left flank. The Leeds man is far from reaching those levels yet, but the potential is there for all to see.
More so, he has already worked with Arne Slot while at Feyenoord Rotterdam, and a reunion at Anfield would be welcomed by the Reds’ boss. Liverpool have been tracking the 22-year-old for some time now, but unless they act fast, they could concede the initiative to other parties, who might be more keen to get the deal over the line.
This will see us lose out to another club in the transfer market for the second time this summer after Manchester United trumped us to Leny Yoro. Whether that is a risk we are willing to take remains to be seen.

The Reds already have a solid left winger in Luis Diaz, while Cody Gakpo also showcased his credentials in the role at Euro 2024. More so, Ben Doak impressed in the position in the pre-season loss to Preston North End, while Lewis Koumas is also capable of doing a jog. While another senior winder will add considerable depth to a stacked Liverpool frontline, the Reds have little need to get into a bidding war for Summerville.
