Liverpool could seal move for teenage prodigy Rio Ngumoha within four weeks
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, English talent Rio Ngumoha’s move from Chelsea to Liverpool could be confirmed in four weeks.
The recently turned 16-year-old winger has decided to leave Chelsea and join Liverpool this summer. Regarded as one of the most exciting youngsters in English football, the Reds are in the process of finalising the agreement with Rio Ngumoha. However, while the transfer is close it is not done yet.
Taking to his official X account, Fabrizio Romano claims the teenager’s registration is going through the Premier League’s five-step investigation process and the transfer to Liverpool could be official in four weeks.
“2008 born talent has already agreed to the move after he left Chelsea, as revealed,” Romano tweeted.
“Rio’s registration is currently going through PL 5 step investigation process which could take up to 4 weeks, then will be official.”
Chelsea would be livid at the prospect of losing such a sublime talent in Rio Ngumoha, who is officially edging closer to a switch to the red half of Merseyside. The fleet-footed winger made his breakthrough in the Chelsea U18s earlier last season and was also featured at the Under-21 level in the Premier League Cup. That just speaks volumes about the teenager’s exciting ability and potential to swiftly rise through the Blues’ ranks.
Such is the 16-year-old’s talent that the Reds have gone far and broken their academy wage structure to convince him to come to Anfield. Several Premier League sides were waiting to make an approach for the player with his contract at Chelsea expiring. However, Liverpool appear to have won the race for his signature.
As per a report from The Daily Mail, Liverpool officially striking a deal for Ngumoha would see him initially join on a scholar’s contract. The teenage prodigy is understood to be motivated and excited by the route and opportunities on offer at Liverpool, having watched a mix of first-team players and academy products winning the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp this past season.

Liverpool have poached young talents from rival clubs in recent years, most notably Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo from Leicester City and West Ham respectively last summer—with the former making his first-team debut this past campaign.
The idea to lure Ngumoha from Chelsea follows that trend, with the Merseysiders’ commitment to investing in young talents with potential, which is a testament to the strategic planning and long-term vision underpinning the club’s pursuit of success. All in all, he could prove to be a fantastic long-term investment for our club. Ngumoha’s official signing will be worth the wait for the Liverpool fans.
