Dean Huijsen wants Premier League move amid Liverpool interest
Dean Huijsen has been the subject of interest from Liverpool in recent weeks with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, Aston Villa and Bournemouth also keen on his purchase from Juventus.
The Dutch prodigy spent the second half of 2023/24 at AS Roma on loan and his exploits in the Italian capital have earned him the attraction of several clubs. He is seen as a future prospect by Liverpool whose manager Arne Slot is Huijsen’s compatriot.
Alfredo Pedulla, a reliable Serie A correspondent, has now claimed that the central defender is keen on heading to England this summer, therefore providing an added boost to Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Liverpool in his pursuit.
Huijsen’s preferred destination is not known yet, though any interested club from the Premier League would be able to match Juventus’ asking price in the range of €25 million this summer.
Liverpool might not be favourites for the player, however, as at his age, he would want to continue his development by playing regularly and that seems more possible at Villa Park or with the Cherries.
A squad of the Reds’ calibre warrants a high amount of experience, especially in the Champions League, which Huijsen does not have at this point in time and therefore, his first few years as Liverpool’s player may be spent out on loan.
At a club of a smaller magnitude, he will find enough playing time to continue developing before eventually making the move to one of England’s or Europe’s bigger and better sides.
Liverpool’s interest in the defender also perhaps comes at the wrong time as they are themselves in need of signing an experienced figure at the back amid uncertainties surrounding Virgil van Dijk’s future beyond 2025.

Arne Slot is yet to make his first major signing since arriving at Anfield from Feyenoord and it’s fair to say that he may do well with a centre-back who has a rich experience under his belt and can be a long-term option at the same time.
