Liverpool could yet make a late punt for Dean Huijsen amidst Bournemouth decision
Liverpool target Dean Huijsen is nearing a move to Premier League club Bournemouth, having turned down interest from Stuttgart. Negotiations with Juventus have gone smoothly, with only minor bureaucratic details remaining. The Dutch defender, who also holds a Spanish passport and plays for Spain’s Under-21 team, is expected to be officially announced by Bournemouth in the coming days.
According to Tuttosport, VfB Stuttgart have also shown significant interest in the former Next Gen player, but Bournemouth has emerged as the frontrunner. However, Liverpool might make a late bid, potentially disrupting Bournemouth’s plans. Despite these speculations, it is not a race against time for the Reds to get the deal over the line.
Bournemouth are set to pay Juventus around €18 million for Huijsen, which will consist of €15 million upfront and an additional €3 million in easily achievable bonuses. This influx of funds will aid Juventus in their own transfer market pursuits. The Turin club plan to use the money to make a final push for Teun Koopmeiners, among others. It would appear that we could not just lose out on Huijsen but also allow Juventus to take a free run at Koopmeiners, two birds with one stone.
Liverpool could yet potentially make a last-minute bid for Huijsen, driven by discussions initiated by the player’s father. While Bournemouth seems to be in the final stages of securing the transfer, Liverpool’s interest adds an element of uncertainty to the situation. A late twist would certainly be welcomed by the Reds’ faithful.
Having already lost out to Manchester United in the race for Leny Yoro, Liverpool could lose further face if Bournemouth pulls the rug under them. Huijsen certainly is a talent with immense potential and can thrive in the right system. More so, Richard Hughes losing out to his former club is certainly not a great look either.

Huijsen’s versatility and experience with Spain’s Under-21 team make him an attractive prospect. If Liverpool decides to proceed with the bid, it could not only bolster their squad but also disrupt a direct Premier League rival’s plans.
